Incheon Airport to Myeongdong After 10 PM: AREX, Bus or Taxi?
Your flight lands at Incheon Airport after 10 PM. By the time you clear immigration, collect your bag, and reach the arrivals hall, the transport choice you planned may already be gone.
Quick answer: use the time you expect to leave customs—not the scheduled landing time. If you reach the public arrivals area early enough, check the current AREX and Route 6015 departures. If regular service has ended, the N6701 late-night bus is usually the most useful public-transport option for Myeongdong because it stops at Seoul Station and Euljiro Entrance. A taxi is the simplest choice for a group, heavy luggage, or a hotel far from those stops.
First, Calculate Your Real Airport Exit Time
A 10:00 PM landing does not mean you can board transport at 10:10 PM. Taxiing to the gate, immigration, baggage claim, customs, and walking to the station or bus platform all take time. A delayed bag can change the best option completely.
Use this simple rule:
- Flight arrival time: useful only as a starting point.
- Arrivals-hall time: the time that determines which transport you can actually catch.
- Hotel location: check whether your hotel is closer to Myeongdong Station, Euljiro Entrance, or Seoul Station.
Best Options at a Glance
| Option | Best when | Where it gets you | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| AREX | You leave customs while trains are still running | Seoul Station; then Line 4, taxi, or a walk depending on the time | The airport train may run later than your final subway connection |
| 6015 airport bus | A regular bus departure is still available | Myeongdong area | The final regular departure may be too early for a late arrival |
| N6701 late-night bus | Regular trains and buses have ended | Seoul Station or Euljiro Entrance, then a short taxi or walk | Limited departures and no stop named “Myeongdong” |
| Official taxi | You have heavy bags, children, several travelers, or a difficult hotel location | Your hotel entrance | Higher cost and late-night surcharge |
Option 1: Check AREX or Bus 6015 Before Giving Up
Arriving after 10 PM does not automatically mean every regular service has finished. What matters is the departure time shown for your terminal and the time you reach the platform.
AREX operates both all-stop and express trains, but the timetable was comprehensively revised from December 29, 2025. Check the latest official AREX timetable notice rather than relying on an older blog post. Also remember that reaching Seoul Station does not guarantee that Seoul Subway Line 4 is still running to Myeongdong. If the subway has ended, take a short official taxi from Seoul Station.
Airport limousine Route 6015 serves Myeongdong. The operator's current Terminal 2 timetable shows its last listed departure at 10:59 PM, but schedules and platform details can change. Check the official 6015 route page and the airport departure board on the day you travel. At Terminal 2, purchase the required ticket before boarding.
Option 2: Take the N6701 Late-Night Bus
For central Myeongdong, N6701 is the most useful official late-night airport bus because it stops at Seoul Station and Euljiro Entrance before continuing to Dongdaemun Design Plaza. Euljiro Entrance is near the northern side of Myeongdong, but it is not the same place as Myeongdong Station. Check your hotel pin before choosing where to get off.
The current official fare is KRW 18,000 for an adult and KRW 12,000 for a child. Tickets are available through airport ticket booths, ticket machines, or Tmoney GO according to the airport guide. A booth or machine is usually the simpler choice for a newly arrived visitor.
Current N6701 Departures from Incheon Airport
| Terminal | Officially listed departure times | Boarding point | Approx. time to Euljiro Entrance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Terminal 2 | 11:30 PM, 12:20 AM, 1:20 AM, 3:25 AM, 4:20 AM | Transportation Center B1, bus platform 18 | About 85 minutes on the official route guide |
| Terminal 1 | 11:50 PM, 12:40 AM, 1:40 AM, 3:45 AM, 4:40 AM | Arrivals level 1F, stop 3B | About 65 minutes on the official route guide |
These times were checked on September 16, 2026. Reconfirm them on the official Incheon Airport pages for Terminal 2 and Terminal 1 before your trip. Road conditions can change the arrival time.
Where Should You Get Off?
- Euljiro Entrance: usually the better N6701 stop for hotels on the north or east side of Myeongdong.
- Seoul Station: useful if your accommodation is on the west side or you prefer a short taxi from a major transport hub.
- Do not choose by neighborhood name alone: two hotels marketed as “Myeongdong” can be on opposite sides of the district.
Option 3: Take an Official Taxi
A taxi is the least complicated option after a long flight, especially for two or more travelers splitting the fare. Use the official taxi queue outside the terminal and ignore anyone approaching you inside the arrivals hall to offer an unofficial ride.
The airport lists standard Seoul taxi pickup points at 5C, 6C, and 6D at Terminal 1 and 7C at Terminal 2. Official international taxis use 4C at Terminal 1 and 3C at Terminal 2.
Standard taxis apply a night surcharge of approximately 20% to 40% between 10 PM and 4 AM. For official international taxis, Myeongdong is in Seoul's Jung-gu, which is listed in Zone C: the published section fare is KRW 85,000 for a sedan or KRW 120,000 for an SUV, van, or deluxe taxi. Tolls and other permitted charges can be added. Confirm the fare type before departure and keep the receipt. See the official Incheon Airport taxi guide.
A Simple Decision Flow
- Reach the arrivals hall and check the clock.
- Check the live AREX and 6015 departures. If one is comfortably available, use it.
- If regular service has ended, check N6701. Compare the next departure with the cost of waiting.
- Check your hotel pin. Decide whether Euljiro Entrance or Seoul Station is the better drop-off point.
- Use an official taxi if the wait is long or the final walk is difficult.

Useful Korean for a Taxi
명동에 있는 이 호텔로 가 주세요.
Myeongdong-e inneun i hotello ga juseyo.
“Please take me to this hotel in Myeongdong.”
미터로 가 주세요.
Miteoro ga juseyo.
“Please use the meter.”
Show the driver your hotel's Korean name and full Korean address. A hotel name written only in English may not be enough to identify the correct entrance.
Quick FAQ
Can I take AREX after 10 PM?
Possibly. “After 10 PM” is not a single cutoff, and the answer depends on your terminal, train type, day, and the time you reach the platform. Check the current AREX timetable on your arrival date. Even if you reach Seoul Station, verify whether your onward subway is still operating.
Does the N6701 bus stop at Myeongdong Station?
No. Its useful nearby stop is Euljiro Entrance. Depending on your hotel, you may need to walk or take a short taxi.
Is a taxi worth it for two or three people?
It can be. Compare the total group bus fare, the wait for the next departure, the final walk, and the late-night taxi fare. A taxi becomes more attractive when the cost is divided and you have several bags.
Should I book a taxi from someone inside the terminal?
No. Use the designated official taxi queue or a confirmed official reservation. The airport specifically warns passengers about illegal solicitation and unfair fares.
